    <title language="eng"> Assessment of nutritional potential of Bulma cotton (Bombacopsis Glabra) seed oil.</title>

    <abstract language="eng">&lt;p&gt;The present study was carried out to assess the effect of oil extracted from Bulma Cotton (&lt;em&gt;Bombacopsis glabra)&lt;/em&gt; seed on the growth and activities of some enzymes in some tissues of rats. Three weeks old male white albino rats (&lt;em&gt;Rattus norvegicus&lt;/em&gt;) were divided into two groups and fed with two different diets for four weeks. The difference in the diets was 5% soyabean oil (control) or 5% Bulma cotton seed oil. The average increase in weight of the test rats was not significant (P&amp;lt;0.05) when compared with the average increase in weight of the control rats. The activities of the enzymes: acid and alkaline phosphatases, alanine and aspartate transaminases in the organs (liver, kidney, brain) of the test rats were not significantly different compared with the control. The results strongly suggest the &lt;em&gt;B. glabra&lt;/em&gt; seed oil supports the growth of rats and it appears that the structural integrity of the cell was preserved in the tissues studied.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
