A series of complexes of general formula [M(L1-2)2X2] where M = Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II); and X = Cl-, Br- and I- and L1 = Isobenzofuran 1 (3H) one semicarbazone; L2 = Isobenzofuran 1 (3H) one thiosemicarbazone have been synthesized. The geometry of the complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, thermal analysis, spectral study (IR and UV) and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Octahedral geometry is tentatively proposed for all the complexes. Antimicrobial activity of the ligand and metal complexes were screened and observed that metal complexes were found to be more active than free ligands.<br />
