    <abstract language="eng">&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Alpinia&lt;/em&gt; is a genus of about 200 species of ginger-scented, rhizomatous perennials natives to Asia and Australia. &lt;em&gt;Alpinia conchigera&lt;/em&gt; Griff. is one of the &lt;em&gt;Alpinia&lt;/em&gt; species which is also known as joint-whip ginger, &lt;em&gt;lengkuas ranting&lt;/em&gt; or &lt;em&gt;lengkuas genting&lt;/em&gt;. Soaking with hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and methanol successively carried out the extractions and the crude extracts were further screened for bioactivities. Crude hexane, dichloromethane and ethyl acetate extracts were strongly active against &lt;em&gt;Salmonella choleraesuis&lt;/em&gt; in antimicrobial assay. In antifungal screening test, hexane extract showed slight inhibition on &lt;em&gt;Aspergillus ochraceaus&lt;/em&gt; and &lt;em&gt;Saccharomyces cerevisiae&lt;/em&gt; while ethyl acetate extract was active towards &lt;em&gt;S. cerevisiae&lt;/em&gt; as well. All crude extracts except methanol extract exhibited very strong activity in cytotoxic screening test against HL-60 cell line (human promyelocytic leukemia) with IC&lt;sub&gt;50&lt;/sub&gt; values &amp;lt; 5 &amp;micro;g/mL.&lt;br /&gt;&#xD;
