    <abstract language="eng">&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Kinetics and mechanism of oxidation of arginine by Cr (VI) has been studied. The main product of oxidation is g-guanidino butanaldehyde. The reaction is first order to arginine and first order with respect to Cr (VI) respectively. The reaction is acid catalysed. The dielectric constant of the medium on the rate have no effect. The activation energy is computed with respect to slow step of the mechanism.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
