Abstract:

Some solid and stable complexes of (1-p-T-5TH) with Ag (I) & Hg (II) ions have been prepared and characterised using various physico-chemical methods. The ligand is co-ordinated to metal ion through thione sulphur as indicated by I.R. spectra. Ag (I) complex is polymeric and Hg (II) is monomeric. [Ag (1-p-T-5TH) (H2O)]n shows maximum activity against bacteria Bacillus subtilis (Bs) and S. aureus (Sa) both but [HgCl (1-p-T-5TH) (H2O)] shows maximum activity against only S. aureus (Sa). [Ag (1-p-T-5TH) (H2O)]n and [HgCl (1-p-T-5TH) (H2O)] shows maximum activity against fungus F. heterosporium (Fh) & A. nigar (An) respectively.
