The -oxo-bridged vanadium (V) and monomeric oxo-vanadium (IV) complexes with isonicotinic acid hydrazide have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductance, spectral studies (IR & UV vis) and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The distorted octahedral geometry for oxo-vanadium (IV) is consistent with electronic spectral data. The cis VO2 structure forces the ligand to coordinate in a non-planar fashion to allow better O(Pp) V(dp) bonding.
