Series of zinc-aluminium-carbonate-layered double hydroxides (ZAC-LDHs) were synthesized by co-precipitation method at different Zn/Al molar ratios (R = 112). The pH was kept constant by the titration of sodium carbonate at pH=7.00 ± 0.05. The as-prepared ZAC-LDHs were then characterized by using Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Inductively Couple Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) and Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Sulfur (CHNS) analyses. XRD patterns of the ZAC-LDHs showed the typical basal spacing value of CO32- ion containing LDH of 0.75 nm. The pure phase of LDH was obtained up to ratio 3; however as the Zn/Al molar ratios increases, the intensity and the sharpness of the peaks decrease thus lessen the crystallinity.
